Florida Group Home Roadmap: From Idea to Opening Day

Ready to open a group home or residential care facility in Florida but overwhelmed by licensing, applications, zoning, inspections, insurance, staffing, and everything in between?

The Florida Group Home Roadmap was created to give aspiring facility owners a clearer path forward.

Instead of trying to piece together information from different agencies and websites, this practical DIY guide walks you through the major steps involved in preparing to open a properly established, compliant, and client-ready residential care or treatment facility in Florida.

Whether you're considering sober living, substance-abuse residential treatment, behavioral or mental health residential care, a children/adolescent behavioral RTC, a developmental disability group home, detox facility, or assisted living facility, this roadmap helps you understand what to do, in what order to do it, and which agencies may be involved.

You'll receive guidance covering:

7 different Florida facility roadmaps
Business formation and structure

This Is More Than Opening a Business

Opening a group home isn't simply about filling beds and collecting payments.

Depending on the facility you choose, the people who walk through your doors may be overcoming addiction, managing mental or behavioral health challenges, living with disabilities, needing assistance with everyday activities, or experiencing one of the most vulnerable periods of their lives.

Your goal should be to create a facility built around safety, dignity, compliance, quality care, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of the people you serve.
